Tell Me a Story / Cuéntame un cuento
Salem Church
Telling and retelling stories is a great way for every child to get ready to read. During our celebration of Día de los Niños / Día de los Libros (Day of Children / Day of Books), we shared the bilingual story Mañana Iguana by Ann Whitford Paul and then we played with animal shapes to retell the story. Uno, Dos, Tres, One, Two, Three by Pat Mora, the founder of this national day, and ¡Fiesta! by Ginger Foglesong Guy are 2 more books about parties that will sprinkle your stories with Spanish and fun. Enjoy reading and telling stories together!

The Junior Kindergarten children from Salem Run Minnieland helped our planet for Earth Day by picking up trash on the Salem Church Library grounds. The children feel a strong connection to the library since they attend the weekly story time. Salem Church Library would like to thank them for their service and commitment to our community.

PAWS for Reading 2/7/2007
PAWS for Reading
Headquarters
Twice a month, the library goes to the dogs – the therapy dogs of Spiritkeepers , a local chapter of Therapy Dogs International, Inc., that is! With tails wagging, and friendly handlers, they set up camp in the Theater, ready to hear a story. And the children come, ready to read from a great picture book or a chapter of a novel. As they read, they lovingly pat their appreciative doggie audience. Kids, dogs, and books – what could be better??

The Paws for Reading program is designed to help children improve their reading skills in a fun way. Reading to therapy dogs provides the child with a relaxed and relaxing, non-judgmental listener.

Here’s some of our Spiritkeeper friends.
